We are excited to announce the publication of Deliverable D1.3, titled “AUTOSUP Use Case Scenarios and KPIs, a significant step forward in advancing seamless and automated multimodal freight transport.
What’s Inside D1.3?
This deliverable introduces a robust validation methodology for selecting automation technologies and innovations tailored to multimodal logistics hubs. Central to this approach is a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring that every solution is evaluated for performance, safety, environmental impact, costs, human involvement, and regulatory compliance.
D1.3 features six real-world use case scenarios from the AUTOSUP Living Hubs in Trieste and Antwerp-Bruges. These scenarios compare current (AS-IS) and future (TO-BE) operational processes, modeled using Business Process Modelling Notation.
Key Highlights
- A structured framework for selecting automation solutions based on performance, safety, environmental impact, costs, human-in-the-loop, and regulatory compliance.
- Six concrete use cases covering rail, road, maritime, and hub operations.
- A harmonized KPI set addressing operational efficiency, logistics performance, safety, environmental, and economic impacts.
- Clear identification of bottlenecks, requirements, and expected benefits of automation in real multimodal hubs.
The findings demonstrate that targeted automation, when chosen through a systematic KPI-driven framework, can significantly enhance efficiency, sustainability, safety, and coordination across multimodal supply chains.
Laying the Groundwork for the Future
The use cases defined in D1.3 provide a solid foundation for developing the AUTOSUP Decision Support System, bridging the gap between strategic vision and operational reality.
