On 1-2 July 2026, partners from the AUTOSUP and CROSSFREIGHT projects gathered in Trieste, Italy, for a joint two-day event dedicated to advancing digitalisation, automation and collaboration in multimodal freight transport.
The first day combined the CROSSFREIGHT Final Conference with a joint AUTOSUP workshop. Participants were presented with the final results and pilot demonstrations of the CROSSFREIGHT project and explored European developments in sustainable and digital freight transport. The event also provided an opportunity to identify alignments between the two projects that could help develop smarter, more efficient freight corridors across Europe.
A key AUTOSUP session focused on Use Case 3 at the rail terminal of Gorizia, which addresses automated cross-border Ro-Ro transhipment operations. In addition, participants took part in an interactive business model workshop to validate the role of the Offline Trustee Function. Discussions highlighted its potential to enable trusted data sharing, strengthen stakeholder collaboration and support decision-making in increasingly automated logistics environments.
The second day was dedicated to the 3rd AUTOSUP Plenary Meeting, during which consortium partners reviewed the overall project progress, ongoing activities and key achievements across the different work packages. Discussions focused on priorities and planned activities for the next phase of the project.
An important highlight of the meeting was the live demonstration of the AUTOSUP Decision Support System and the latest developments within the Living Hub use cases. The demonstrations generated valuable feedback and discussions on Digital Twin models, Cost-Benefit Analysis methodologies, feasibility studies and alternative automation scenarios. These exchanges will contribute to further refinements and support the validation and future deployment of the developed solutions.
The AUTOSUP consortium would like to thank ARS – Adriafer Rail Services for the excellent organisation and hospitality throughout the event, as well as all partners and participants for their active contributions. Through continued collaboration, AUTOSUP is helping to pave the way towards safer, smarter and more connected multimodal logistics in Europe.
