The AUTOSUP project was actively represented at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 in Budapest, one of Europe’s leading conferences on transport and mobility research and innovation. Through scientific presentationsworkshop contributions and decision support for multimodal freight transport.

One of the project’s key contributions was the presentation of the paper “Advancing Multimodal Freight Automation Through Digital Twins and Decision Support: The AUTOSUP Framework” by INLECOM. The paper showcased how Digital Twins and Decision Support Systems can help stakeholders evaluate automation pathways and make informed decisions to achieve more efficient and coordinated multimodal logistics operations.

The Technical University of Munich presented a second scientific contribution through the paper “Information Flow Modelling for Automated Freight Port Operations: Insights from Two Case Studies in Europe.” The work demonstrated how Information Flow Modelling can improve interoperability and support automation initiatives in complex freight and port environments, providing valuable insights for deploying future automated logistics systems.

AUTOSUP also participated in the joint workshop “Automation in Logistics: Where We Stand – Evidence from Horizon Europe Projects Towards End-to-End Adoption.” Organised together with the AutoMoTIFMODI and SEAMLESS projects and hosted by ALICE, the session provided a practical overview of the current state of logistics automation across different transport modes and operational contexts.

During the workshop, Ilias Gkotsis (INLECOM) presented AUTOSUP’s perspective on enabling end-to-end automation in multimodal logistics networks. The panel discussion, moderated by Fernando Liesa (ALICE), facilitated a valuable exchange between Horizon Europe projects, industry stakeholders and researchers. Key topics included interoperabilityorchestration across transport modesscalability of automation solutions and the barriers that still need to be addressed to achieve widespread adoption.

Throughout the conference, AUTOSUP was also present at the ALICE stand within the Automation Innovation Neighbourhood, alongside other Horizon Europe projects including AutoMoTIF. The stand provided an opportunity to engage with transport and logistics stakeholders, showcase AUTOSUP’s Living Hubs and use cases, and discuss how digital technologies can support the transition towards smarter and more resilient supply chains. Numerous exchanges with researchers, technology providers, industry representatives and policymakers highlighted the growing interest in automationdata-driven decision support and collaborative innovation across Europe.

Participation in TRA 2026 generated valuable discussions and strengthened links with the wider European innovation ecosystem. The event reinforced the importance of collaboration among research projects, industry, and public stakeholders to accelerate the transition towards efficient, sustainable, and interoperable logistics networks. AUTOSUP would like to thank the organisers, ALICE and all participants for the inspiring discussions and looks forward to continuing these collaborations in future initiatives and events.
